The 7 Universal Laws: The Rules of Energy, Life and the Universe

Which energy feels strongest in your life right now?
I’m learning to trust my intuition
I’m ready to create something new
I need more balance and peace
I’m being pushed to let go
The more I have travelled, healed, explored spirituality and worked with energy, the more I have come to believe that nothing is truly separate.
We give things different names.
Different religions give them different stories.
Different cultures give the Divine different faces.
But underneath it all, I believe we are often talking about the same energy.
The same patterns.
The same light.
The same Universal Laws.
I have always felt that there is far more happening around us than what we can physically see.
Energy. Intuition. Synchronicities. Dreams. Thoughts. Vibrations. Cycles. People arriving at exactly the right time. Things falling away when they are no longer meant for us.
And the deeper I go into my own spiritual journey, the more obvious these patterns become.
For me, the seven main Universal Laws explain so much about how life works.
They are actually incredibly simple.
1. The Rule of Mind
Everything starts as a thought.
Your mind creates your reality.
Before anything exists physically, it begins somewhere within consciousness.
An idea.
A thought.
An intention.
A vision.
We are creating all day long without even realising it.
If you constantly tell yourself:
“I can't.”
“I'll never do that.”
“I'm not good enough.”
“Nothing ever works out for me.”
Your energy, choices and behaviour begin following that story.
Eventually you can end up living inside a reality built around beliefs you didn't even consciously choose.
This is why becoming aware of our thoughts is so powerful.
When you change:
“I can't.”
into:
“Why can't I?”
something begins to move.
You start opening a door that was previously closed.
I believe manifestation begins here.
Not by sitting still and simply wishing for things.
But by changing the thought, changing the belief, changing the energy and then allowing your actions to follow.
Everything starts within.
2. The Rule of Matching
What happens inside your mind shows up in your outside life.
As above, so below.
As within, so without.
This one has shown itself to me again and again.
Our external world can become a mirror for what is happening internally.
When we don't believe we deserve very much, we can accept very little.
When our boundaries are weak, people who push boundaries seem to appear everywhere.
When there are wounds we haven't looked at, life has a funny way of presenting us with situations that touch exactly those wounds.
Sometimes it can feel like:
“Why does this keep happening to me?”
But eventually I began asking a different question:
“What is this trying to show me?”
That changes everything.
Because once you recognise the pattern, you have the opportunity to stop repeating it.
Your outer world begins changing because you are changing.
Different boundaries.
Different choices.
Different relationships.
Different energy.
Different life.
3. The Rule of Energy
Nothing sits still.
Everything in the universe is vibrating and moving.
Everything has energy.
You have energy.
The person sitting next to you has energy.
A room has energy.
Words carry energy.
Music carries energy.
Touch carries energy.
Nature carries energy.
And sometimes you feel something before you have any logical explanation for it.
You walk into a room and instantly know the atmosphere isn't right.
You meet someone and feel completely comfortable.
Another person smiles and says all the right things, yet something inside you tells you not to trust them.
I believe that is our intuition reading energy.
We have become so conditioned to live entirely through the mind that we often override what the body is telling us.
Tantra teaches the opposite.
Slow down.
Feel.
Breathe.
Notice.
Listen.
Your body is constantly communicating with you.
The more connected you become to yourself, the harder it becomes to ignore energy that doesn't feel right.
And the easier it becomes to recognise energy that does.
4. The Rule of Opposites
Everything has its match.
Light and dark.
Hot and cold.
Good and bad.
Creation and destruction.
Masculine and feminine.
They are two sides of the same coin.
We often believe spiritual growth means becoming permanently peaceful, positive and full of light.
I don't believe that.
We need both.
There is no understanding of light without darkness.
There is no courage without fear.
There is no rebirth without something old dying away.
There is no expansion without sometimes experiencing contraction first.
Even within ourselves, there are parts we love and parts we would rather hide.
True healing, for me, hasn't been about pretending those darker parts aren't there.
It has been about meeting them.
Understanding them.
Accepting them.
And realising that sometimes the very thing we have spent years rejecting holds an enormous amount of our power.
The shadow isn't always something to destroy.
Sometimes it simply wants to be seen.
5. The Rule of Rhythm
Life moves like a pendulum.
Things flow in and out.
Up and down.
Expansion and contraction.
High times follow low times.
Nothing in nature stays in one state forever.
The moon changes.
The tides move.
Winter becomes spring.
Flowers bloom and then disappear back into the earth.
So why do we expect ourselves to remain exactly the same every day?
There are periods when life moves quickly.
Everything flows.
Ideas come.
Doors open.
You feel powerful and completely aligned.
Then there are times when things become quiet.
You turn inward.
You rest.
You question.
You heal.
Sometimes nothing seems to be happening at all.
But something is still happening.
The pendulum is moving.
I used to see those quieter times as being stuck.
Now I often see them as preparation.
Healing has rhythm too.
You can think you have completely dealt with something and then another layer appears.
That doesn't always mean you have gone backwards.
Sometimes you are simply ready to heal at a deeper level.
Trust the rhythm.
The tide always changes.
6. The Rule of Action
Every action has a reaction.
What you put out into the world comes back to you.
Our choices create ripples.
The way we treat people creates ripples.
The way we treat ourselves creates them too.
Say yes when your whole body is screaming no and there will be an effect.
Set a boundary and there will be an effect.
Choose kindness and it travels.
Choose cruelty and that travels too.
Break an old cycle and suddenly an entire chain of events can change.
This is where spirituality has to become more than something we simply talk about.
We have to live it.
Manifestation needs movement.
Healing requires choices.
Boundaries require action.
If we want something different but continue behaving exactly as we always have, we keep feeding the same energy.
At some point, we have to move.
7. The Rule of Balance
Everything contains masculine and feminine energy.
Masculine is the energy of doing and acting.
Feminine is the energy of being and creating.
We need both.
This has become incredibly important to me through Tantra.
Masculine energy brings:
Action
Direction
Structure
Focus
Protection
Movement
Feminine energy brings:
Intuition
Creation
Receiving
Feeling
Flow
Nurturing
Stillness
Neither belongs exclusively to men or women.
We all carry both.
But look at the world we live in.
Go.
Work.
Achieve.
Produce.
Push.
Earn.
Do more.
Be more.
Keep going.
Many people have spent years living almost permanently in doing masculine energy.
And eventually something inside begins craving the opposite.
Rest.
Receiving.
Touch.
Creativity.
Nature.
Pleasure.
Stillness.
Connection.
Being.
We don't need to choose masculine or feminine.
We need them to dance together.
Action without intuition can send us charging in the wrong direction.
Intuition without action can leave beautiful ideas sitting inside us forever.
One creates.
The other brings the creation into the world.
That is balance.
The 7 Universal Laws and Divine Feminine Energy
This is where things become even more fascinating for me.
As I've learnt about different spiritual traditions, I keep seeing similar feminine energies appearing again and again under completely different names.
I don't personally believe that is coincidence.
One of the goddesses I feel particularly drawn to is Isis.
In ancient Egypt, Isis was associated with extraordinary magical knowledge, motherhood, protection and healing. Ancient traditions portrayed her as possessing immense magical power and using it to protect and heal.
Alongside her sits the principle of Ma'at – truth, justice, balance, harmony and the cosmic order that keeps everything from descending into chaos.
Think how closely that echoes the Universal Laws.
Balance.
Order.
Cause and effect.
Truth.
Nature.
Energy.
Creation.
To me, Isis represents the Divine Feminine that understands these deeper laws.
Not passive.
Not weak.
Powerful.
Intuitive.
Protective.
Creative.
Able to move between darkness and light.
Able to transform.
Able to heal.
And able to bring life from what appears to have been destroyed.
Sophia – Divine Wisdom and the Journey Back to Light
Then I came across Sophia.
Sophia means wisdom.
In the ancient spiritual text known as the Pistis Sophia, Sophia is a cosmic figure whose story involves light, descent into chaos, suffering, awakening and ultimately being helped back towards the Light.
That symbolism fascinates me.
Because isn't that so much like our own healing journeys?
We lose ourselves.
We descend into our own darkness.
We forget who we are.
We make choices from fear.
We become disconnected.
Then something inside begins searching for the light again.
To me, Sophia represents wisdom gained through experience.
Not wisdom because life was easy.
Wisdom because you went through the darkness and came back knowing more about yourself.
The Pistis Sophia speaks repeatedly about light, cosmic realms, mysteries, spiritual understanding and the soul's movement towards the Divine.
For me, that connects beautifully with the Universal Laws.
Different language.
Different period.
But an incredibly familiar spiritual journey.
One Divine Feminine, Many Faces?
This is something I have become increasingly fascinated by.
What if humanity has experienced the same Divine Feminine energy across thousands of years, but every culture has understood and named her differently?
I am not saying historians would tell us that every goddess is literally the same deity.
These traditions developed in different cultures with their own beliefs and stories.
I am talking spiritually.
Energetically.
The archetype underneath the names.
Look at India.
You find Parvati – associated with love, motherhood and divine feminine power.
Durga – fierce protection, strength and the destruction of forces that threaten harmony.
Kali – the terrifying, magnificent energy of destruction and transformation - Kali destroys what must end, she reminds us that destruction isn't necessarily evil, Sometimes something has to die for something else to be born.
In Hindu goddess traditions, these figures can themselves be understood as different manifestations of Devi – the Great Goddess or Divine Feminine.
Even within one tradition, the Goddess has many faces.
Soft.
Fierce.
Sexual.
Maternal.
Creative.
Protective.
Destructive.
Compassionate.
Sound familiar?
The Rule of Opposites.
Both darkness and light.
Both creation and destruction.
Two sides of the same whole.
Then travel further through Asia and the names change again.
In Bali and Indonesia we find Dewi Sri, connected with rice, fertility, abundance and the life-giving power of the land. In Balinese and Javanese tradition she remains deeply connected with nourishment, fertility and nature.
Again, I see the Divine Feminine.
Life.
Creation.
Nature.
Cycles.
Abundance.
Death and rebirth.
All the same themes appearing in different clothes.
Isis.
Sophia.
Parvati.
Durga.
Kali.
Dewi Sri.
Different goddesses.
Different histories.
Different cultures.
But when I look at them spiritually, I see echoes of the same ancient feminine force.
Mother.
Creator.
Destroyer.
Healer.
Protector.
Wisdom.
Nature.
Intuition.
Truth.
Maybe humans haven't been discovering completely different truths.
Maybe we have been giving different names to something we have always felt.
Universal Laws and Tantra
This is also why Tantra makes so much sense to me.
Tantra is about connection.
Energy.
Awareness.
Masculine and feminine.
Shadow and light.
Creation.
The body - Your Sacred Temple
Consciousness.
And being completely present with what is happening within us.
It isn't about escaping our human experience to become “spiritual”.
It is about going deeper into it.
Feeling instead of constantly analysing.
Listening instead of overriding.
Receiving instead of forever doing.
Seeing our shadow instead of pretending only the light exists.
Bringing all of ourselves back together.
The Universal Laws aren't somewhere outside us.
We are living them.
Your thoughts.
Your energy.
Your patterns.
Your actions.
Your cycles.
Your masculine.
Your feminine.
Your darkness.
Your light.
It is all happening through you.
The Universe Is Always Speaking
I genuinely believe the universe speaks to us all the time.
Through dreams.
Through energy.
Through synchronicities.
Through the people we repeatedly attract.
Through things that suddenly disappear from our lives.
Through ideas that won't leave us alone.
Through our bodies.
Through our intuition.
Through patterns that repeat until we finally understand what they are trying to teach us.
Sometimes we ask the universe for another sign when we've already been given twenty.
We just don't always like the answer.
And I have definitely been guilty of that myself.
But the more connected I become to myself, the more I trust what I feel.
Maybe that's the real purpose of understanding these laws.
Not controlling the universe.
Understanding our relationship with it.
Because we aren't separate from nature.
We aren't separate from energy.
We aren't separate from the universe.
We are part of it.
And perhaps the more we remember that, the more everything begins to make sense.
A Question for You
Which Universal Law is speaking to you most strongly at this point in your life?
The Rule of Mind?
Energy?
Your Shadow?
Rhythm?
Action?
Or Balance?
Don't overthink it.
Notice which one you felt in your body while you were reading.
There is probably a reason that one stood out.
Trust it.
